FREE INTERNET will show you how to get online for free! It’s common now for cities to provide FREE wireless Internet to their communities. Even small towns are doing it. My hometown has a population of less than 20,000, but we have FREE wireless APs (access points) in seven different locations. By using a home built, high-gain, directional antenna, I can easily access three of the seven APs. I can literally, take my pick! It’s wonderful when you can get online for free!
Cities having similar setups are Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angels, Atlanta, Riverside, and Austin. These are just a few...and the list is growing exponentially. The ‘key’ is in being able to access the wireless signals.
Along with government installations, many private businesses are allowing you to get online for free too. McDonald’s has announced that you’ll soon be able to get online for free at all of their restaurants. Many Subways have open APs as well. Other places to look are truck stops, Office Depots, hotels, RV parks, restaurants, airports, and especially, public libraries. Visitor centers are beginning to get on the free Internet bandwagon too and many universities offer free wireless access their campuses..
Unfortunately, having a FREE AP in town won’t do you any good if you can’t access it. The point of this book is to show you how to reach out to those APs using antennas you can build yourself in an hour or two. The WIFI CANnon costs about $11 and you can build it in an hour or two.
I’ve also included information on how to increase your own APs range so you don’t have ‘dropouts’ in different parts of your house. In fact, you should be able to log onto your own AP from 1,000 feet or so away using just a simple cardboard and aluminum foil reflector that costs about 10 cents to build. With it, you’ll be able to pickup your router’s signal upstairs, downstairs, and even outside on the patio.
Even if it turns out that there isn’t a free AP in range, the information in this book will still help you to tune up your wireless connection and more importantly, make it SAFE from intruders!
If you’re paying too much for your Internet connection, (more than zero) then FREE INTERNET is just what you need to remedy that situation. It’s a lot more fun when you can get online for free!
